Grey’s anatomy is back after an intense 7th season. The first episode picked up where the seventh season left off. Meredith just got sacked and her relationship with Derek is in tatters. In one lapse of judgment, she took off with their adopted child Zola.

The second episode starts off with the surgery team struggling to help Susannah, the woman who was, together with her husband, got trapped in a sinkhole while driving down a road in the first episode. Grey’s Anatomy residents Cristina, Alex, Jackson and April struggled on the very complex surgery. Cristina made a terrible mistake by accidentally injecting Alex with a substance caused his heart to stop. Though she was able to revive him, Alex woke up fuming.
After taking off with Zola, Meredith is still missing. She then calls Cristina to ask help for explanation of her disappearance. Alex joins in and proceeds to telling the adoption counselor that Zola is undergoing a detailed check-up. Derek also agrees to the plan but the counselor saw through the act and took the child away.
The Chief wanted to install a device in Henry – something that caused Teddy to worry. He assigned Bailey to kept rack of the procedure which then caused Teddy to worry even more. Teddy got in a more difficult position when the Chief asked her to do the honors for the installation of the device.
Grey’s Anatomy lead, Meredith, was eventually called back to work after the Chief tried to take the blame for the mess on the Alzheimer’s trial. To the surprise of Bailey, the Chief asked her to take charge of the diabetes cure research.
Meanwhile, after a successful surgery on Susannah, she was reunited with her husband. Seeing their happy reunion, Owen started considering his relationship with Cristina. Now that he knows she didn’t push the abortion through, he talked to her. Owen decides to give the go signal for the termination of the pregnancy.
